Red River Recreation Area (515 2nd St NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721)
We are partnering with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for a #PlantWildflowers event in celebration of World Bee Day at 2 p.m. on May 22. The grand opening of the campground pollinator garden will be hosted by the Minnesota DNR at the Red River Recreation Area. Grand Forks Horticulture Society members will supervise garden planting by event participants.
Grand Forks Public will host a traveling exhibition designed to teach kids and their families about money, thanks to a competitive national grant from the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. Thinking Money for Kids is a new multimedia experience for children ages 7 to 11, as well as their parents, caregivers, and educators. The interactive exhibit uses games, activities and a fun storyline to help children understand what money is, its function in society, money choices, and money values, such as fairness, responsibility, and charitableness. The exhibit will be on display at Grand Forks Public, along with a series of related special events, from May 23 to June 30, 2022.
The Garden Club is open to all ages. The club is meant to spark interest in gardening, nutrition, and the environment. The club is a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity, plus we get to dig in the dirt!
Experience the magic of storytime at Grand Forks Public! Storytimes include picture books, puppet shows, music, and activities geared for different age groups. Each storytime lasts about 25 minutes.
The Classic Re-Reads Book Club offers participants a chance to re-read those classics that they read (or skipped reading) in high school and college. This time with no grades attached! Join us for an informal discussion of these books that became classics for a reason. The book club meets the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
